Renovation, STATION TGV LUXEMBOURG
Turnkey renovation and conversion guarantees deadlines and budget. Design and architecture fit hand in glove in this custom-design turnkey renovation project.

The transformation of the reception and ticket sales area of Luxembourg central station is representative of the substantial work that EGB’s architects and interior designers can tackle. It is not a question of straight-forward renovation of the space but a true (re)construction going from structural work to the choice and design of custom-built furniture. Work of this calibre shows the EGB’s teams’ expertise at all levels and at all stages of the conversion: engineering, architecture, design …  Everything was moved out, emptied, floor slabs ripped out, fixed elements were shifted, supporting structures adjusted, everything was ‘reinvented’. In addition, the manner in which this ‘turnkey’ project was undertaken ensured scrupulous adherence to the budgets and deadlines of this enormous venture.

How do you make a place bigger without knocking the walls down? How do you make best use of the available space? How do you raise the quality of service? How do you improve the reception area while ensuring perfect safety? How do you transform a crossing point and transit area into a welcoming, convivial place to live and work? These are the questions the engineers, architects, interior designers, designers and  project manager of the company EGB pored over, conscious of  the challenge and the risks posed by this amazing turnkey renovation project.

The architects worked on how to reorganise the areas, restructure the services, develop the spatial quality; they worked on the surfaces, the materials and the technical equipment before the design department even began its work. That team then conceived shapes and colours, devised custom-made furnishings, formulated a lighting plan, selected lamps and created relevant yet subtle signage. In taking responsibility for all the changes, from A to Z, to Luxembourg railway station’s TGV sales area, EGB interior design has demonstrated its skills and the quality of its services.
