A penchant for old stones and a taste for places steeped in history led the Pia Mai architectural bureau into areas of architectural heritage. The restoration of the collegiate of Saint-Maur at Hattonchâtel on the Moselle is an excellent example. Today, in this 12th century edifice, comprising a fortified tower and dominating the Woëvre valley, all is not simply “understated luxury, tranquillity and pleasure”. Creating a fusion of ancient and modern, conserving historic elements, offering ultra-modern apartments … EGB picked up the gauntlet for the interior architecture and design despite the limitations imposed by a listed cultural site.
